    26 March

    Easter weekend

Ya know, I always have to wonder, why is it that being a kid the days last forever, a week is a life time (especially when Friday night is the one night a week you get chocolate) and the holidays stretch in front of you like years? Now days weeks fly, I mean, you blink your eyes and they are gone!! It's almost April and I still feel like the year began yesterday. Wow, at this rate, before I know it i'm going to be sporting a blue rinse, living with 16 cats, walking with the aid of a pacemaker and hitting on guys aged 27 cos I will think I'm just as young and lively as them. Now that’s a pretty picture! "listen up sonny boy... if you don't behave I'm going to send
you to my room" <evil cackle>

Easter weekend, the Cokefest, 14 hours of non stop music, good company, and a damn fine time! If we could have one of those a month (with the international guest stars of course) well... I would be happy as a pig in  several tons of shit. The South African bands kicked off with a group called Lonehill Estate who I have t mention, because despite having heard of them on the SA scene, I had never seen them and didn't know their music at all. After watching them, I will go buy their CD. They were fantastic and put the more established and well known bands to shame, which is very cool for them. They were followed by a few more SA bands who
were good, but none held a candle to the opening act, and then ~ the international artists stepped up :)

The first international act was 30 Seconds to Mars, they are VERY theatrical, which I have to say I loved, they are overboard, they are pretty and they know it :) Jared Letto climbed the lights rigging and sang to us from the top of it, he raced into the crowd (wow was security flapping when he did that) he charmed, wooed and basically put on an incredible show. Man he's pretty. The only bad thing was that they sounded very synthesized, I can only hope that it was bad sound and not that they can't sing. It was also pretty amusing that Eskom (the people who power SA... well... supposedly) cut the electricity about 3/4 of the way through their set. Needless to say the abusive chanting that arose from the crowd could probably have been heard a few countries over and very quickly the power came back on! :)
Second up was the Kaiser Chiefs, a UK band who I am not a huge fan of, since by this time we were hungry and thought sitting prior to the other bands playing was a good idea, we left the golden circle (otherwise known as the place right at the front of the stage reserved for people who are prepared to pay through their noses for the good tickets) grabbed some food and chilled while they did their thing.
Good Charlotte was next and they were fantastic, such stage personality! I knew more of their songs than I thought I did and much jumping, shouting, dancing and singing ensued! Apparently Paris Hilton (she is dating the lead guitarist) also came to the show, and what amuses me is that she got more press coverage alone than the rest of the bands... how silly!
Next up was the ageing rocker Chris Cornel, ex-frontman of AudioSlave and Sound Garden (and a few other bands) He was awesome - a real old school, egotistical, look at me kind of rocker. Hell with a voice and a talent like that ~ he is allowed to be all that and a bag of chips.
Next up was my all time OMG marry me favorite band! Muse. (I can almost hear the angels chorus when I say their name) They were MIND BLOWING! They have no crowd interaction, to them it is all about the music, not the blah blah blah bullshit chit chat ~ every ounce of them goes into the performance and they let off such an energy that it captivates you, mesmerises you and completely takes you over. At some points I had to remind myself to jump and scream and sing because i was starring at the close up of Matthew Bellamy playing the guitar / piano with such incredible speed and talent that I was in awe and my jaw was hanging on the
floor inviting flies to come on in. They played all the favorites and they played them well.
The final band was the heavy and hardcore KoRn. I don't know their stuff too well but I enjoyed the show they put on, wow those guys need a bath and probably a whole heap of disinfectant. I would also sing such angry songs if I was that covered in dirt and as ugly. (yes yes, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, I know, but really - google them... disagree with me please!)

We walked out of that day finished, our feet pleading for mercy, sunburnt, sore from jumping, muddy as hell (it had been a solid week of rain prior to the concert and it was held at a race track... of third world proportions) but over the moon, reliving every band in detail, laughing, getting excited and already talking about the one coming up next year and who they could possibly bring on to beat the line up we had just watched. Damn, what a day!

The rest of the weekend was spent being the son my parents never had. So basically putting up curtain rails and tie backs for them, a retractable washing line on my patio and a huge picture (Dali of course) for me. Then there was cleaning, making a HUGE soup for freezing... winter will be here soon and of course seeing a friend or three for a drink or two, catch up and nonsical chit chat! :)

So now the bad news... I'm starting to get sick. *bugger* I hate being sick so much, I'm vitamining it up, taking all sorts of things and hoping i beat this - if I get sick I can't do kick boxing, and if I don't do kick boxing I might have an aneurism and die due to lack of stress blow out activity. It won't be pretty I’m telling ya!

I hope you all had a great Easter weekend, that this weekend swoops in on you like an eagle on a fish and that it stays put for a change (I will give it a stern talking too;) )

    Loves and hugs
    me!

    10 March

the search party found me! - oh wait... one wasn't sent ;)

Is it March already? And almost half way through March as well… WOOO HOOO! Damn. I can’t believe it’s been a month since I did an update. I would apologise and grovel and beg for your mercy, but I'm not gonna! I have been around, checking up on you (I’m waaaatching yooouuuu!) silently stalking your every entry and on occasion verbally making my presence known… so nope, I'm all good on the whole being a bad bad blogger!

I am in a new band! That’s right – I got snapped up by a bunch of girls who are starting from scratch, and the only downer is the fact that it’s about an hour to get to them for each practice… for once a week, I will brave it, I missed being in a band too much to not do it. If anyone… and I mean ANYONE even thinks that just cos we are a bunch of girls that we are pulling a spice girls / pussy cat dolls excuse of an act… well I might just have to go postal on your asses. These ladies all play their own instruments, all material will be original and they are damn good! Man – I’m so frikken happy about it I could pop. That might however get ugly.

I have started doing the skills classes in kick boxing, so it’s me… and all the boys.  Now I know how good din theory that can sound: getting hot and sweaty from being physical with a bunch of boys… but it does entail me being hit in the face quite a bit… so no – not quite the porn you all had playing in your heads – go on, you were thinking it weren’t you, you sick puppies ;) So yes, I am not the singing, kick boxing, gymming rock star (wannabe) who is ready to take on the world again. Damn it feels good to be back! :)

The parents have been in the bush on holiday, or as you call it, on Safari, the sister has started kick boxing with me – which is very entertaining… I have always been the one with the violent tendencies while Lol is more so verbally abusive – basically if you were to get into a fight with the two of us, I would be the one to physically damage you (I like to think) and she would be the one to send you to the nut house for the rest of your life based on being able to reach into your soul and pull out your largest insecurity and then shine a spotlight on it for the whole world to see, aaaah – I love my sister *grin* So watching her beat a punching bag, doing push ups (well… what she claims are push ups) and being made to listen to someone shouting physical orders like a drill sergeant at us definitely keeps me amused!

The weight is coming down, the guitar learning is coming together, the love life… well – hey – ya can’t have it all you know! ;) Work… is still same ol same ol, I'm still out and about looking for something new and different – so if you know anyone who wants to hire a personality for huge amounts of money and pay them to just to keep others entertained, send them my way – cos man I can’t think of a better way to earn a living! :) (Comedian perhaps… ooh I can be one of those sarky dark comedians who makes jokes which are dark and evil, but entertaining… hmmm… oooh I like this!)

The coke fest is coming up soon! As in on the 21st. Man I can’t wait, 30 seconds to Mars have confirmed they will also be playing… the lead singer is Jared Leto and while he may be somewhat of an emo rocker (it’s the make up man!) the boy is GORGEOUS and has a voice so incredible that it could melt the ice-caps (it must be lust) now… how to get backstage...? You might remember him from a few movies:  Fight Club, Girl interrupted, Requiem for a dream, Urban legend, Lord of War… oh just go Google him and have a nice drool!! Its worth it.

And now… onwards and outwards, I have to run, time to go to kick boxing! Everyone chant with me *yay having the snot beaten out of you by people much bigger and stronger than you are!!*

    Love ya!
