23 February 6 days to goIt's fantastic, its wonderful, there are 6 days to go until I'm on my way home!!! I really don't have that much planned for when I'm home. It's a case of: lots of sun tanning (I get to see what the sun is like again, its a bloody miracle!) and to think, i wasn't even a fan of the sun before moving out here. I will definitely have a jacuzzi party, basically you bring your meat and your drinks - and we all sit in the jacuzzi getting drunk and talking shite! I have also arranged for my sister and my friend Geee to take the 9th off so we can go to Sun City for the day, our artificial beach! lol - ok ok - its so much more, have a look at the link: http://www.suninternational.com/resorts/suncity/ there is a ton to do, check out the valley of waves, the lost palace and the casino. That will be a day trip, and there will be plenty of partying while I'm there as well. Most nights I hope! The great thing is that I will be back in my bed, in my flat in Rosebank, the tenant who was staying there left this month (great timing!) so it will be like old times... barring the fact that my mates have carried on living and things have changed (hate it when that happens! while I'm gone they should have frozen in time until I came back and approved the changes, lol) I have so many people to see, places to visit and shopping to do while there, I know I will come back exhausted, but you know - I really don't mind at all! Fret not, there will be pictures taken and posted... hopefully... I'm so useless with that! In the mean time, live carries on here. Work, study (I am writing an exam when I'm home in SA for my college that I have been doing a three year course though, it's my final module, PR - and then I have completed the Brand Communication Management Diploma) gym and going out. Very predictable, but hell, one needs to save cash for a holiday! This weekend is not too crazy mad, it's still got a few items on the agenda though. Tonight is a kitchen party! Which is not a kitchen tea, or a hens party, it's literally all us housemates getting together, eating cake, and drinking wine. It gets very loud and by the end of it one is clutching ones sides from laughter. Considering there are 9 of us in the house at the moment, its close enough to a party! It's being held for our honorary housemate Sarah. She has been staying with us for the past three weeks on holiday from New Zealand, with two of our housemates Claire and Katie. It's weird, she sort of seems part of the house, so tonight is a farewell as she flies home to NZ the same night i fly home to SA, the only difference is that I'm coming back. Knowing the madness of the house, its gonna be a fun evening, me thinks I need to take pictures! Tomorrow holds a morning at the gym, studying for an hour or three later and then I have a viewing of a house in Wimbledon with a mate (I'm planning on moving in with friends, it means three of us not 8 of us, less mess, and it's closer to the various places I like to go to on the weekends!) After that its off to the Clapham Grand for an evening of stand up comedy and clubbing! should be a complete and utter hoot, only problem being that the trains close early so I have to be out and on the train by 12 (I think need to check the times) to make it home on time! Sunday, shopping, visiting a mate at his pub, studying and the gym...I think that should keep me busy enough. Well - time for me to fly (ok, not really, I just don't feel like being overly creative at the moment, I'm far too lazy!) and i prob wont blog until I'm on holiday and have a chilled afternoon to do so, so love to all of you, keep well and have a FANTASTIC weekend! Hugs and loves Julz 13 February Tis meHello blog world
Well the weekend I was waiting for has come and gone. I saw my mom on Friday and Sat, she had to jump onto a plane on Sunday morning (got up at 5:00am – madness I tell you!) and it was wonderful to see her!
Friday after mom arrived we decided to jump off the underground at Covent gardens and get lost in London for a few hours. We walked, and walked, and walked – all the while catching up, talking crap, people watching, stopping every now and then for a drink and basically taking it easy. We got lost in the red light district in Soho while wondering around after collecting our tickets for Cabaret and wanting food before the show. That was special.
We ended up at the Scottish Steak house close to the theatre. What a shithole. The service was bad, the food was bad and the bathrooms well – let’s not go there! It’s a lesson learned – and one I’m passing on to you – DON’T DO IT MAN! Now here’s hoping the waitress we had doesn’t stumble across this and hunt me down… if she sits on me – well – I’m a goner! The theatre was nice… if you happen to be a jockey. I’m not tall and I’m not big, but my knees touched the back of the seats in front of me. When you consider how cold it was, that we all had BIG jackets, a bag, a few shopping bags (we went to Hamley’s and bought sour worms! A few other things from other places too) the space was really small – but hell maybe people were smaller back in the day. The show was fantastic. We laughed our backsides off, and while there was only one phenomenal singer (Goosebumps stuff!) the rest were only ok, the energy was great, the sets were fab and the show pulled together really well. There was quite a bit of nudity, and considering it has been snowing lately, I felt sorry for the poor guys who weren’t looking as happy about being exposed as they may have been in warmer months. ;) at least they had an outside factor to blame for it! Haha!
Saturday we did much of the same, went walking, hit Camden to look for shoes for me – specific ones… BEEEG SHOES! Trainers with a platform, one that could be used to squish little children! We searched, and searched and searched, until even I was sick of shoe shops… and then we gave up. We went out for dinner to a great restaurant called Strada, food to die for. I had the braised lamb shank. Heaven. Desert was an iced nougat with espresso to pour over it, which was also so good I think I might be able to swap it for coffee. Could be hazardous to my hips though. After dinner we went home, and that was us! It had been an early morning, on very little sleep (that’s what happens when you live with 8 hooligans who decide to choose that evening to get horribly trashed in the kitchen which shares a wall (paper thin one) with your room! Screaming and shouting the whole way – sleep was disturbed!
At the crack of dawn… well not even, the sun only gets up after we get to work dammit – on Sunday – mom left for the airport. I was thinking about being terribly sad, but I decided to go for the “still really sleepy” feeling, and went back to sleep. Besides, she is back on Monday for a night before heading home, and after that – I’m off home! * does a happy dance *
That aside, it’s valentines day tomorrow. I have such a huge evening planned – I’m going to leave the office go to the gym… then home, shower, change, get into my tracksuit and study for a few hours before hitting the sack – unless anyone knows a hot bachelor with a fat wallet and I guess a sense of humour wouldn’t hurt?... no one?... damn.
I can understand the different side of the debates, its commercial. No shit. What isn’t now days? It doesn’t mean you have to blow a ton of cash, stealing flowers from the neighbour’s well manicured garden work just as well. As for the fancy meals out… live on the edge – order, eat, ask for coffee – and run like hell, it will certainly stop any complaints of a relationship being boring. Chocolate – easy peasy! Most nations suffer from people with obesity – grab theirs while running past after leaving the restaurant, chances are, they wont be able to catch up to you. So that’s the romantic evening covered! What’s that… need a girly movie? No you don’t – all the networks will be playing crap like “sleepless in Seattle” or something equally appalling! So now – you are so sorted! Have fun and let me know how it all goes!
For the singletons – here’s a challenge… this year don’t go on an anti-valentine campaign with mates which inevitably will leave you horribly pissed, and calling your ex – and feeling ugly. On second thoughts… go for it – I love a good laugh at others expenses!
Mini celeb time!
Robbie Williams has been admitted into rehab for being dependant on prescription pills. You know, that pisses me off, if you a music legend, then you don’t mess with prescription pills, you bloody as well use the hardcore stuff, its not like he cant afford it, and hell, he has a reputation to maintain for all the music legends out there. I think he let the team down. He is making all pop stars look like wussies. TG I’m a rocker! But still… it’s not right.
The size 0 debate is still happening. I don’t see the problem! If people want to look like lollipops then hell – let them be. Naomi Campbell is weighing in on the debate now (yes I know – the pun is terrible) but considering that she throws phones at people, I think all the skinnies should beware… mind you, they can’t be easy to hit… have to run around in the shower just to get wet.
Anna Nicole Smith, well – that’s gonna have to be a customised coffin, her head hits the pillow, the legs open. That and the boobs – surely they are going to have to make a coffin with a higher section for that area… or is this now pushing it, too early to rip her off? Aaah like I care.
Well – that’s me. Look after you, have fun and I will chat to you all soon.
Love Julz 05 February I know - I'm useless!I know I am becoming worse and worse at the whole blogging thing, and to be honest I can’t really even be bothered coming up with a good excuse. Nothing of interest has been happening. Sure its all changing now, but most of the time it’s just routine. It’s weird really - people taking breaks from this blog sport of ours - or stopping altogether. For the rest of us, we just seem to be slowing down really (except you Mo - but I think we may be lost if you stopped blogging! It would be an end of an era!)
So - the weekend past began as per normal on Thursday! hehehe! What can I say, the pub round the corner from the office was calling - and it wasn’t calling only me, nope, quite a few people were there, it was a loud evening, met some cool people, from my building - who I didn’t even know existed there - chatted crap and eventually went home! Friday - same place same sorta evening. Friday drinks are tradition. Who am I to say no (and I have stuffed up my ankles from running at the gym, so I'm taking it easy!) Saturday - Kim, Keren (both of whom are my future house mates - just as soon as Kim gets her visa renewed were moving in together to terrorise Wimbledon!) and I decided to hit the puzzle early, not before I samples GBK - also know as Gourmet Burger Kitchen. Oh. My. God. Now that’s a burger! It was HUGE! About 15/20cm high - had bacon, avo, Angus beef (medium rare!) lettuce, salsa, tomatoes, onion, sauce and so much more - it was to die for! I have not had a hamburger in close on 3/4 MONTHS so you can’t even begin to understand how I sat there in awe of this mound of food for 20 min before climbing into it like a caveman after winter is over and there is fresh food on offer! Heaven. After devouring the burger it was off to the pub to watch the Rugby - we watched, England won (dammit, I was rooting for Scotland!) then the farewell started up (same place, a friend of a friend is heading back to SA) the band started, I sat chatting to my mates Ryan and his g/f Claire for a while, which was great fun, I got to play bouncer in our reserved area and chase people away - always fun, the band started up and off we went. Then a whole heap of other mates came through, we danced, watched our mates almost start a punch up, had a few drinks, yelled at each other over the music and eventually dispersed! Sunday - like shoo man, chilled!
This week is an exciting one for me, on Friday my mom arrives!!! I can't wait to see her and have booked us tickets for Cabaret, the musical for Friday night! On sat I think we will do one of the London walks amongst other things. The walks are great - there is the jack the ripper walk, taking you along a route where the bodies were found and told in a way tat makes your hairs rise on the back of your neck (apparently!) The pub walk along the Thames - stopping in at the smallest and the oldest bars, amongst others - and the list is only just beginning. It’s also hell of a cheap considering how much fun they are (says the person who has yet to go on one!) at about £10 per person, per walk. I think I will take mom round to my favourite places, she has been to London on many occasions, seen all the touristy stuff (probably more than I have) and now I want to take her to Ben Crouches Tavern, to Rauri's pub, to the puzzle, so she knows where I am talking about and the people I'm hanging with. In between, some shopping, maybe the London eye (neither of us has done it before... I'm not a fan of Ferris wheels and this is like a BIG bloody Ferris wheel - but hey, I know mom would like it! and on Sunday she heads off to Mexico for a week with my aunt Cathy who was out recently! It’s a girl’s week away, one filled with cocktails on the beach, swimming with the dolphins and all that other stuff that I’m so envious about - I wish I was going!
So that’s it really, life is good, mom will be here soon, then I’m off on holiday home for a while - which is gonna be madness - I so can’t wait!
I shall post again after me ma has come and gone, let you know about the musical and all the rest! In the mean time, look after you and have yourselves a fab week!
