23 December Bah Humbug. StillCan this year now please be over?!? I need it to be January already. Today I had to send my car in for a service as it is making funny noises and the heater/fan doesn't work, it only blows hot - not good when the temp currently is between 30 and 35 degrees celsuis (86 - 95 F) and it doesn't come with aircon. The service is costing me just over R2000 (roughly $200) and since my great aunt died and I have not had an account to deposit my rent into I also have a lump sum of rent to pay at roughly R4500 ($465) and its Xmas, just in case no one noticed... which is never cheap. I think I need to spend every free day writing songs, lying by my parents pool, and at the gym - at least that cuts costs.
Topping it, my mates are not in my good books, I'm not talking all of them, just a few of the ones I always considered closest to me ~ calls and sms' go ignored. Plans are broken (when they actually answer the sodding phone and make them) and unless I make contact (even if it is ignored) I never ever hear from them.
People suck. A lot.
Yes I know I'm a moody negative bitch at the moment. Maybe I should stop listening to the sick puppies, the song "My World".
18 December almost xmasSo many people love Christmas, its warm and fuzziness all thrown into a big commercialised bubble that states we have to love every second, stuff our faces nonstop with food and booze, and be nice 100% of the time to all people you come across. Well, to that I say bah humbug. That's right, you heard me, BAH HUMBUG.
I was supposed to be in Cape Town with mates over this silly season, which would have been awesome, I probably wouldn't have the same outlook as the grinch if that was the case but unfortunately they were robbed recently (welcome to Africa), and the laptop that was pinched wasn't insured. That's like R30 000 worth of laptop or something equally hectic, needless to say it has to be replaced and our road trip down has been put off. **sigh** I guess it just means I can keep my savings for something next year.
I will also miss my band. The guitarist is going away to London, and the bassist and drummer are heading to the coast ~ so it's just me left here. My singing has become such a good emotional output that between that and my kick boxing, my road rage is nearly nonexistent (how cool is that? ;) ) and I am loving being on stage again - tonight is gig #3 and I'm pretty excited for it! It's all the way out in Boksburg (think hickville) but we all have to start somewhere. None of my mates are coming tonight, and I'm pretty sure there won't be any family coming either, but half my band lives out there, so they will be bringing a whole heap of people - just means I don't have to hang around too long after we gig before heading home, it is after all, a school night!
Tomorrow is the theatre, a group of friends and I are going to watch snow white, the pantomime, which should be pretty amusing - and if it isn't, I want my money back. I wish I could say that things slow down from there, but honestly they don't. I am helping mates move on Sat morning, xmas shopping on sat afternoon, and dinner out on sat evening. Sunday is gym, helping people move again (it never takes only one day), seeing the parents and sista and going to a mates house for a braai/bbq (unless that gets cancelled) then back to work on Monday. Thats right - I'm so not on holiday at the moment!! Wish I was, but I did have Mexico recently, so can I complain? No probably not!
Merry happiness to everyone, I hope your Christmas is awesome and you aren't all grinch like.
Bah humbug.
me
xx 05 December It's Friiiiiiiiiiday!!What makes you think that this makes me happy?
I'm so annoyed - I had my car washed today, so what happens - it rains. Of course it bloody does - what was I expecting, to have a clean car for longer than 2 hours? pfffft - I'm such a moron. **sigh** So - weekend, I'm aiming for a chilled one, the gig for tomorrow has been cancelled, which I am quite happy about. I found out after my last post that they wanted us to use our own equipment - which is just silly. I don't have a proper PA system, I only have an amp, one that is way smaller than the rest of the bands and that means you can't hear me at all. It was supposed to be outdoors and we have been having rain (did I mention the bloody rain?!?) We were also going to be the only band playing - which I am not happy about, we just don't have enough songs to be able to be the only people up there! I mean sure - it's fine if you have two full sets to play, 40 min each and you take a break between - but when you have one set of 40 min and it's a bunch of drunken bikers that you're singing at - well... it's not quite the same.
the good news though is that were hooked up with a gig next weekend! Its at a proper venue that has bands pretty much 6 nights a week so they have the equipment, they have the crowd that wants to listen to live music and they have a bar. ehehe :)
Tonight I'm off to confuse people by dressing up in a little black number for a dinner with friends - the confusing of people part comes from the whole "looking civilised" thing... I have no intentions of acting it. I'm going with a loud, outgoing bunch of hooligans who normally leave a place in complete pandemonium. It should be a blast! :D
I hope you all have a wonderful weekend xx 03 December this is me making an effort!I'm in lust. (What... you really expect me to use the other L word?? don't be all mental like!) There is a hottie at my gym who I’m considering drugging and kidnapping. heh - ok, not quite, but hey - he is so lickable. **sigh** I have decided not to talk to him ~ because knowing my luck he has a thick Afrikaans accent and is just pretty, with no brains, and no sense of humour, and that right there would be the fantasy destroyed. So - the birthday celebrations were awesome!!! I got spoilt so much, I was taken for a massage and a manicure by a friend Kaz, and we had Champaign and strawberries, num num! on the day I had breakfast with a mate, coffee and cake with the folks (before you all go - coffee and cake?!? that’s so gay, are you 27 or 72?!?!? let me tell you about the cake!!) The place is called Imaginique, and I am sure I have spoken about it before. Its sparkly and purple, with broken mirrors on the wall and huge carvings made out of pure chocolate (like 5 kilograms of chocolate!!) The cake is so good that even though you can hear your insides screaming "STOP STOP, I CAN'T TAKE ANYMORE - I'M GOING TO EEEEEEEEEEXPLODE!!!" you keep shovelling it in - you can't help it, it’s like a mini orgasm every time you take a mouthful. Yes you heard me - I said mini orgasm. it's that damn good. And it’s so beautifully presented, in fact, I have a picture - have a look (hopefully I got the whole embed picture thing right - I'm not too well versed in doing that!) After that I went to a friend’s house to work out the details for our holiday in December! A group of 4 of us are driving to Cape Town (it's a 12 hour drive) to spend xmas and new year there having a jol (party), chilling out and basically doing what you’re supposed to do on holidays - causing havoc, eating too much and being tourists (wine lands here we come) I can't wait!! From there it was on to O' Hagens to meet up with more mates and have a few drinks to celebrate the big day. A mate of mine was playing that night at the pub - this is the same man who started me singing in the first place, at the young age of 15 (yes yes, that does mean I was drinking underage in pubs that I shouldn't have been in! But that is the South African way) he went out of his way to make it special, dedicated songs, shouting at people to buy me drinks, constantly breaking into happy birthday and getting the crowd to follow! It was pretty cool! The most awesome mates came through, a different crowd it was - you know how it is, the people you expect to be there don't pitch, and the ones you least expect pull in and make it really special. the band has been taking a break this week, which I have now learnt, might just have been silly - seems we have another gig this coming weekend at some super bike rally - hmmm, I need to buy leather clothes. tee hee ;) The Tanz cafe (where we debuted) has booked us for 2 more gigs next year, which is great; we didn't even have to call and grovel to get in there. wheeeeeee - it makes me happy :) That’s my news for now - I hope all is dandy in the blogosphere! |
