19 December UpdatesHi guys!
I can't be live it is Christmas. It doesn't feel like it. Christmas is supposed to be in sweltering heat, with people being robbed when leaving a mall so that the robbers have something nice to give to their families. Its not supposed to be 5 degrees all day long, wet and grey (with the dark screaming in at about 3:30 - 4:00pm every day, adding to the cold and wet). The houses in my neighborhood are lined with colourful, flashing fairy lights - which is odd considering that I live in a Jewish neighborhood - and regardless of the fact that there is supposed to be season cheer - smiling is still something you have to educate people about, by carrying a sign that says "jou ma!" around your neck! (why entertain the locals!?) So lets get this particular portion of the letter over and say those cliched lines now so i can get on with the normal news. Merry Christmas, live long and prosper, giving is better than receiving (ya right!) etc etc. Moving on.
Things here have picked up pace wise. It's been hellishly busy still at the office - you know how it is, everyone shuts office soon so they all want everything yesterday! I figured since I'm not going anywhere though I can take my time when delivering ;) The tension is running high and the people are stressed, so I amuse myself by sneaking up on them and shouting "FIRE... RUN FOR YOUR LIFE!!" it cracks me up every time!
My happy household has broken up in that two of the guys moved out, upped and left for Canada for a year or so. From the cold and wet unfriendly London, to the freezing over friendly Canada - that's gonna be a culture shock! All I can think of when it comes to Canada (apart from my aunt, uncle and cuz's living there... "HELLOO HASLETT FAMILY!") is South Park and Saddam Heussein, with that wonderful tune "blame Canada" blaring in the background! For those of you that have not seen the South park movie... well... yeah... never mind!
One of the others from the house is moving back to Oz on Christmas day, the place seems to be emptying out. Was it me? Well things have gotten quiet there now, everyone is gearing up to go away or go to family and friends and we are all just chilling. Our Xmas present from Keegs and Rachael is a case of Smirnoff Ice and a case of beer. Now if only we could get everyone out of their rooms and into the kitchen - we could have a party!
There have not been any big bands to go to, and I have basically been living in Wimbledon on the weekends hitting the same places with my mates. Christmas day will be spent With Neil and Rob probably playing PlayStation, eating take outs, watching a movie or three and having a dop or two, traditional... no, amusement to kill time, definitely! New years... well there have been talks of Scotland, or Switzerland, both of which I don't need a visa for but we are so disorganised I think i see a pub... one called the puzzle... with a band playing and tons of saffers going mad. I will have to let you know.
I hope you are all well and life is good - look after you, and i will mail you in the new year!
Lots of love
Julz 13 December BAH HUMBUGwould everyone please please PLEASE go on leave already?!? This is supposed to be the month of being lazy at work, parking off and surfing the web, playing solitare and chatting to your mates, taking long lunches, getting in late and leaving early, no?
Apparently bloody not.
I have never been so busy before. I don't mind busy, in fact I quite like it... but the guilt that is seeping through me at the moment for not being able to catch up on everyone's blogs, or write my own... well I feel terrible! i don't have time to visit, send long mails to my friends at home or update anyone on what has been happening here! I would normally do this first thing in the morning before work as I get in an hour and a half before work starts, but I have been in and straight to work, can't take lunch hour (love eating at my desk really!) work late and then bolt to the gym so I don't turn into Rosanne Barr. So I apologise to everyone out there, thank you for still stopping by and checking up on me and letting me know that I'm being crap at this here blog for the time being... I will get back to long posts talking shite about celebs and partying up a storm (which is also a contributing factor to me not blogging!) and basically taking the piss. I jsut can't do it at the moment!
Love to all of you
Don't forget about me - you know I hate being out of the spotlight! hehe!

xx 04 December HelloHello all! Just a very quick (copy and paste from a mail sent out to family and friends actually... sorry, work is frantic!) update, it should all settle soon and i can do propper blogs! Loves So its now that bloody time of the year again. Jingle bells.. jingle bells, jingle bells rock... AAAAARGH!!!! between that and the screaming ankle biters whining their backsides off about "I want I want I want" being pulled up and down the freezing streets and not being told to shut the hell up of have their teeth knocked out... well, it's enough to understand why people are taking guns to schools (since you can't give your child a well deserved smack on the backside anymore, and more and more parents here are technically kids themselves!). *grin* This year, I have opted to work through xmas again. It's nicer to do that from here I'm happy to do it as most of my friends are going home over the festive season and hell I might as well work through it now and take three weeks in March to go to SA, when the tourists have left home and the weather here is REALLY bad. So far it is ok, it's cold, but it is warmer than it has been here, at this time of the year, in a loooong while, apparently :) Life is good, work has been quite frantic, so nothing changes there. I have been going out a hell of a lot too what with Cathy being out from Cape Town and my birthday celebrations. I'm quite grateful that things are now settling down and I can get back into a routine of gym and work and jol on weekends only! (lets not all laugh out loud at once at the thought of this actually working, I know me better than that!) So on my birthday i went out and had the mother of all steaks (for London at any rate), it was a bloody piece of poetry on a plate. So tender and while defiantly too small for my liking, it was as thick as my fist and actually cooked to perfection... so still somewhat breathing! Just a few close friends, some wine... and champing, and some more wine... hmmm... well it was a late evening and hell, work on Friday was not fun because of that, but it was well worth it. Sat was the get together, a heap of people a pub... you do the math! The few of us left standing at the end of it went clubbing at the Roadhouse in Covent gardens, had a great time there and ended up being the last people to leave the club. So it was a good weekend! Been to more pubs, and to Camden and to a few shows and and and and... for about three weeks running now. I have to stop that. Just for December. Or no one gets xmas presents. I'm sure that quite a few of you are on leave for most of December, so I wanted to wish you a happy happy, have a good time, remember the cops are out in force, so take the back roads :) and have a Christmas drink for me! Lots of love Julz |
