20 November yay almost year end!Helloooo internet family, hehehe - how in the hell are all of you?
It's nearing year end, its just a week and a bit to go till my birthday, and we are playing a gig at one of the best live band venues in JHB on my day of celebrations, which happens to fall on a Friday! YEAH BABY! *happy dance* We will be gigging with 7 other bands, one of which are mates of mine, and we get 40% of each persons entrance fee, which is really nice ~ almost like a paid gig - I'm thinking I best organise someone to drive me to and from though, considering its also my birthday, I'm pretty sure I will be punished with vile tasting and potent mixed drinks from friends... hmmm, memo to me, keep BIG bottle of water on hand so I can remember some of the evening.
Things on the go at the moment: work. every day (cept weekends). Kick boxing twice a week. Band - supposedly once a week, but this is what is killing me, we are never practicing, apparently the studio we use to practice in is always bloody booked! Now considering the bands we will be gigging with - well - we NEED to get some practice in. grrr. aaah well, the last gig was awesome and we didn't practice for that one either! I even remembered all the words! *yay me* Gym - twice a week. Out being a social parasite - at least three times a week :D Something never change!
I'm living on a boring as all hell diet of mueslie, brown rice and veg, fruit, fish and salad, which would be great with all the gymming and stuff, if it wasn't for those damn pubs! They seem to jump out from no where and be inhabited with various mates of mine... which is pretty impressive when you think about it - it's almost like psychic pubs. hmmm... speaking of pubs have yu heard about the chain of them (ok ok - so its a restaurant) where everything is styled like a bathroom... "Seats in the Modern Toilet restaurants are toilet-shaped and napkins are dispensed from toilet rolls on tables. Food containers are also toilet or wash-basin shaped, and much of the food is made to look like human waste, reports China Photo Base." I'm sorry is it just me or is that just wrong. I don't want food that looks like human waste. EEEW. sheesh and I thought my mates were all a bit on the freak side - hell they have nothing on whoever conceptualised this! I don't even want to imagine where it could go from here... I don't want to but I can help myself... and trust me - it's not a pretty picture!
This past weekend was highly entertaining! I decided that i was feeling foul mooded (it IS a word if I say it is) and on that note, I was not gonna go out... it didn't last. I went to Tempos (the place where we will be playing)on the friday to watch my bass guitarists' other band compete in the battle of the bands. It should have been called the battle of the "screaming into a microphone like you are in so much pain that you KNOW you were Hitler in a past life and are now being punished for it" bands. No really. I love my rock, my hard rock and even my metal, hell I even like heavy metal - but this death/thrash noise pollution kills me. The bands all rocked, it's just the "singers" that should be shot. twice.
The crowd amused the hell out of me. I'm a metal / goth type kid in my dressing up to go out look. We wear black, and jeans and short skirts and tight tops and have dark make up and some spikes (on occasion), the long hair is needed for the headbanging - we all got along with each other and in general are a pretty loud, outgoing happy bunch who are there for the music and the awesome company... but the EMO kids.. <shudder> BAD BAD BAD hair cuts, guys with more make up than Ru Paul and a constant need to be depressed, in a "I'm going to cut myself so the pain goes away" sort of way. seriously - can they not just cut deeper and be done with? My problem is the music described as EMO music is good - but they are in that category because of the style of dress and the make up, is such a HUGE part of what EMO is considered to be. Please please please let it be a phase. What happened to the happy scary people? they were much more fun!!
So this coming weekend is a loooong one for me - it has arrived - the girls weekend away and tonight we shall meet to decide on a plan of action. Who brings what, what were gonna get up too, how much cash we need - if we should take two cars so there is space for the drinks (hehe) who out of the two single chicks gets first dibs on the hot men that had BETTER be there (I'm voting for me on this one) and if we need food, or if that's just being silly. *grin* The nice thing is its far away enough to make it feel like a holiday, but it's close enough to be able to run home if needed (i mean come on, what if one of us forgets our hair tongs... hahahahaha) My one friend asked if we should all bring a treatment of sorts, you kow, hair, nails, facepack ~ to which i asked her if we will all also have to wear pink and sing kumbayah around a fire... apparently pink is banned but we have to do something girly. help. me. this so isn't my forte! I'm gonna do some research on what else we can do, hikes, quad biking, water skiing and all that stuff - I can't wait!! I might also try and get a tan, apparently there are like 6 pools - I have not had a tan since we went to Bali three years ago :) generally all I do at the moment is blind people by reflecting the sun!
The family is all good and well - we are all spending Christmas together in Cape town (I see.. wine routes, and beaches, and luxury dinners out) oh wait - I will be working in the CT office... so I may see all that, but I won't be able to partake *sigh* It's fine, I'm saving myself for our holiday to Cancun in December next year, now that's gonna be a party!

08 November Rainbows and puppys and all that cute kak!
The line up for the biggest musical festival held in South Africa next year has been announced and it comprises of: Muse, Korn, Chris Cornell, Kaiser Chiefs and Good Charlotte - that’s before we throw in the cream of the crop South African bands. The band that excites me the most has got to be Muse! For those of you who read my blog while I was living in London I'm sure you will remember the write up I did (or not... either way) the band is made up of gods. They are incredible live, their music is mind blowing, diverse, powerful and passionate... and this time I will be buying myself a set of the MUSE (in neon pink on a black background) hotpants underwear at the concert. It will be the only pink I own, but then again, it’s not like people will see me in them. So that’s the cherry on the top of an incredible lineup, Chris Cornell is gorgeous and an amazing singer with awesome music, I love hI’m and Korn - so I can honestly say that the R600.00 ($90 - is that pretty chronic for you guys?) I will be splashed out to get me a golden circle ticket, will be well worth it.
That aside, I have written my final, last ever exam for my college, and only have handed in my assignment ~ I finally am done, three years of part time studies done! WOO HOO! Next year I have my graduation, which I’m not too sure about going too... but they are trying to tempt me with free booze... hmmm - will have to ponder it! I didn't even go to my high school graduation, or any of the ones from my previous college - what can I say, I'm not big on the whole "look at me, I'm so clever" crap that comes with passing a course that cost a fortune to do... thank you but failure was not an option!
I cannot believe that it’s November already - YAY - MY BIRTHDAY MONTH! WOO HOO! I have decided to take a long weekend and go away with just the girls to the Magaliesburg, we have a 5 star self catering unit and the place is so beautiful! I was going to invite my mates as couples, but you know, I sorta get sick of being the only single person there, it means they always get the privacy of the bedrooms and I have to take the pull out couch. That doesn’t work for me thank you. tee hee - so myself a few friends are heading to the mountains to cause chaos with nature and wreck havoc with honeymooning couples *evil grin* The nice thing is my mates are like me, girly girls need not apply! (ok ok - so I have a few girly girl friends... they even wear pink, ugh - but there are always exceptions to every rule!) So that’s the weekend before my birthday, and a wonderful thing happens this year - my birthday falls on a Friday - heeell yeah! buuut I have to behave a little cos we have a gig the next night, and I really don't want to have to dash off the stage at the first sign of a shooter being bought for us ~ might just kill the whole vibe! :D
That aside, the band is doing really well, and what I mean with that is that were sounding good, gigging when we can and not fighting, not that we are actually being paid for gigs... don't be silly now, hehe. My flat is FINALLY getting new carpets YAY! Say bye bye horrid 29 year old brown carpets that look like the have been through the wars... no really - they do! There is one patch that looks like a bear - with HUGE claws was dragged by it's feet backwards and was scratching on the carpet in a "I don't want to go, pleeeaaaase don't make me!!" marks! it was probably a piece of furniture that was dragged... but I like the imagery mine brings (think about it - an 80 year old woman dragging a bear that’s throwing a temper tantrum, hehehe - aaah special!) there are other areas that look like they have been burnt - I’m thinking the old bird must have had some brandy and cigarette accidents in her day, and then did as I did - covered up the bad areas with furniture! This means essentially that the flat has new bathrooms, kitchen, and carpets!! YAY - and this weekend shall be spent... painting. I know I know - I'm such an animal hahahaha! (was out till 1 this morning though - we played a gig at the bohemian which was awesome! we even acquired a few fans! *yay fans*)
Mom and dad are celebrating their 30th anniversary in December - how awesome is that? I think I may possibly be the luckiest kid around with a family like mine ~ but you all know that already!
